Faculty Collection

Scope and Content This collection contains papers pertaining to the faculty and faculty governance at New Mexico Highlands University. A faculty governance structure emerged at the university in 1931. Minutes of general faculty meetings exist from that date forward. A faculty committee structure also developed in 1931, with the formation of an Administrative Council. Subsequently this representative faculty body was known as the Policy Committee and, then, the Faculty Senate.

Abstract This collection consists of both artifacts and paper material from the Beisman Land Surveying business. The artifacts include furniture (e.g. map cases, bookshelves, etc.) and survey equipment. The paper material includes survey maps (8,000+), deeds, business records, newspaper clippings, photographs, and books.

New Mexico Highlands University Centers Collection

Scope and Content During the 1970s the university maintained an off-campus center in Taos, New Mexico. It subsequently closed. In the mid-1990s the university began to open other centers. By 1998 it operated at four locations: Rio Rancho, Santa Fe, Farmington, and Española.

Scope and Content President John Aragon established the New Mexico Highlands University Foundation in 1983. It was incorporated under the laws of the state of New Mexico in 1984. Its primary function is to provide critical resources for scholarships and other needs of the university that are not provided by state funding.
